Learning & Design Approach

Grounded in creating inclusive and accessible learning experiences, I use a systematic approach to design learning experiences that honor those from diverse cultural and social identities. By digging deep into the needs of clients by seeking out perspectives from their learners to get to the root of their needs, I construct learning experiences that increase knowledge, support the application of new skills, and allow learners to continue refining their practice. Based on my variety of experiences within K-12 education and nonprofit leadership, I am uniquely equipped to design, evaluate, and implement instructional interventions that reflect the needs of adult learners.

More About Me

Dr. Chalon Jones is a learning experience designer and inclusive education advocate with over a decade in the field of urban education. A former special education teacher, peer mentor, and curriculum developer, Dr. Jones has led system-level programs that focus on reaching all students by honoring their individual strengths and identities. Instead of creating a “one-size-fits-all” model for developing teachers and leaders to spearhead this work. Dr. Jones leverages learner variability to create, maintain, and sustain inclusive learning communities.

Dr. Jones holds a B.S. in Middle Level Science Education from Wilmington University and a M.Ed. in Education Policy and Leadership from American University. She completed her doctoral studies at the Peabody College of Vanderbilt University and studied models for developing alternative certification programs for educators who support students with disabilities. In her free time, she enjoys traveling the world, engrossing herself in a good story (print or visual), and connecting with educators across the country.
